Greetings from Green Spirit Healthy Living!

I hope you are enjoying this beautiful summer, getting outside, soaking up some sunshine and taking in everything nature has to offer.

If you’ve been missing milk, yogurt or cream cheese since going raw, you’re in for a treat. This month I’m sharing some of my favorite dairy replacement recipes. Wondering why you should reduce or eliminate dairy from your diet?

"There is compelling evidence, now published in top scientific journals and some of which is decades old, showing that cows' milk is associated, possibly even causally, with a wide variety of serious human ailments including various cancers, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes and an array of allergy-related diseases. And, this food contains no nutrients that cannot be better obtained from other far more nutritious and tasty foods."
Dr Colin Campbell

"Inclusion of milk will only reduce your diet's nutritional value and safety. Most of the people on the planet live very healthfully without cows milk. You can too."
Robert M.Kradjian M.D

"I no longer recommend dairy products...there was a time when cow's milk was considered very desirable. But research along with clinical experience has forced doctors and nutritionists to rethink this recommendation."
Dr. Benjamin Spock

Giving up dairy was not easy for me, but for my health it was one of the best things I’ve ever done. It increased my energy, helped my digestion, got rid of a constant stuffy nose, gave my face bone structure that was hidden under fat and eliminated the little bumps under my skin on my forehead and chest. When dairy occasionally sneaks back in (either intentionally or not) I can feel the mucus forming right away and feel stuffed up. Cow’s milk was intended for calves, not humans. We are the only species that drinks the milk of another’s ~ somehow that just does not seem right. Humans were meant to consume mother’s milk, and only when we are babies. The dairy industry has done a great job of convincing us that milk is “Nature’s Perfect Food”. If you’d like to read more about the not so healthy benefits of milk, there is plenty on the internet including this great article. The hormones that are routinely given to dairy cows are another reason the steer clear of dairy as this website points out. If you’re missing some other favorite foods – like burgers and enchiladas ~ my July and August classes are for you! There’s still time to register, but classes are filling up, so don’t hesitate.
